MicroCal_London

We are pleased to announce the 3rd European MicroCal meeting taking place in London on September 13th and 14th.

The time is fast arriving for the third in our highly successful series of European MicroCal meetings! This year the meeting is organized by Malvern Panalytical alongside a Scientific Committee of expert users from academia and industry, all with the support of the ARBRE-MOBIEU network. Our venue will be the prestigious Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), within the historical Savoy Place, perched on the north bank of the River Thames, with spectacular views across London.

The event will focus on applications, best practice, advanced data analysis and all the latest developments in both isothermal titration calorimetry and differential scanning calorimetry (ITC and DSC), but we will also have a broader remit, to cover complementary biophysical techniques such as dynamic light scattering (DLS), multi-detection SEC and Taylor Dispersion Analysis (TDA). All in all, this is the perfect event for the biophysical scientist!

Four scientific sessions will cover a variety of topics, ranging from the development of therapeutic proteins and profiling protein stability and volumetric properties using DSC, to monitoring enzyme kinetics under conditions mimicking cellular environment and interaction analyses with ITC, including ribosome binding to antibiotics and crude reaction screening.

We will be looking closely at sample quality, data assurance and the reliable interpretation of results, with talks on How to Get Binding Parameters and Know Whether They Are Meaningful by Niek Buurma – Cardiff University, UK, and on Quality Control of Purified Proteins, One of the Keys to Success by Bertrand Raynal – Institut Pasteur, Paris, France. We will also learn the results of a case study on ITC test reactions and data analysis, within the COST action ARBRE-MOBIEU.

Five free-to-attend interactive workshops on Day 1 of the meeting will offer a fantastic opportunity for learning and interaction with both advanced users of biophysical techniques and also Malvern Panalytical experts. Take a look at the agenda booklet, which is brimming with exciting topics for scientific presentations, panel discussions, and educational workshops.

The second day is a paid event in which we welcome renowned speakers and expert users from across the community for discussions focused on data quality assurance, best practices, new applications and advanced data analysis. A further optional evening social event will also available for those who wish to maximize their networking opportunities in an informal and entertaining environment.

We are also now calling for poster abstracts – the five best posters will be selected for flash presentations during the first scientific session of the meeting. Please contact Natalia Markova before August 24th, 2018 with your poster abstract!

Please indicate your interest in attending the meeting by registering now, as places are filling up fast! Come and join our community to share ideas and knowledge and help accelerate bioscience research and development.
