The ARBRE-MOBIEU fifth meeting and first COST-sponsored plenary meeting took place on March 22-24, 2017 in the premises of the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i₃S) in Porto (Portugal). The principal local organizer was Frederico Silva.

It comprised an excellent line-up of keynote speakers such as Borries Demeler (San Antonio, USA), David Goodall (York, UK), Fredrik Höök (Gothenburg, Sweden), along with innovations from Beckman-Coulter, Bionavis, Dynamic Biosensors, Forte-Bio/Pall, Malvern, Nanotemper and Wyatt.

The scientific programme included 3 scientific sessions focused on:

• Membranes: lipids, proteins and beyond
• Structure and dynamics
• Interaction analysis
